Culloden Battlefield

Situated to the east of Inverness, Culloden battlefield remains the site of the last major battle on the UK mainland in 1746.

The battle was fought between Jacobite army (mainly Highland Scots led by Charles Edward Stuart and the Hanoverian (English) army lead by ‘Butcher Cumberland’ Son of King George II. Cumberland went on to commit genocide, ethnic cleansing and barbarity against the people of Scotland.

As a result of Cumberland’s barbarity the Union flag of the UK is called ‘The Butchers Apron’ by many Scots.

Some 300 years on Scotland stands on the brink of winning our independence back.
